Draft Preparedness Plan 2023

2022 Procedures and Protocols (as of December 10, 2021) are subject to change based on feedback and updated information. “Participants” includes all individuals (e.g., employees, contractors, artisans, entertainers, volunteers) at the festival other than patrons and guests. We anticipate that this plan will be tweaked and revised as we obtain more information and have the opportunity to observe actual behavior exhibited on site.

An outline of our revised preparedness plan and mitigation measures follow:

  1. Health and Wellness
    • Participants (all but patrons/guests) must follow daily health protocols before entering the site
      • Self-monitoring of temperature taken daily prior to arrival must be under 100.4 degrees.
      • Complete a self-assessment health questionnaire daily. If health symptoms develop during the day, be prepared to leave the property immediately and notify the manager by text.
      • Do not return to the site.
    • Patrons/Guests
      • For the well-being of everyone, we've included a health questionnaire on our website for all patrons and guests. We kindly request that if you're experiencing any symptoms listed, please refrain from attending the event. Anyone should go home if symptoms develop during the day.
  2. Masks
    • Participants
      • Masks are suggested be worn by all participants over the age of 5, if the participant has a medical condition that excuses her/him from wearing a mask per CDC guidelines. A Face Shield or suitable mask substitute such as listed by the ADA will be accepted.

    The requirement to modify a policy, practice, or procedure does not include individuals without disabilities, as they are not protected under the ADA.

    Patrons/Guests

    • Allow a person to wear a scarf, loose face covering, or full face shield instead of a face mask.
    • Masks or face shields will be required at all times for food vendors.
    • Masks will be made available to participants for free.
  1. Social Distancing of 6 feet (if not part of the same household)
    • Participants
      • Maintain social distancing when and where appropriate.
      • Encourage people who live in the same household to work together when it would be more efficient.
      • Limit transactional time when within 6 feet.
      • In some situations (e.g., servers), participants will wear gloves and/or other PPE equipment.
    • Patrons/Guests
      • Maintain social distancing when and where appropriate.
      • Limit transactional time when within 6 feet.
    • Mitigation measures and monitoring:
      • Use markers to designate 6-foot intervals where lines may form (e.g., common areas).
      • Signage to promote safety measures.
      • Seating areas designated and spaced 6 feet apart (except for those from the same household).
      • Safety Service (i.e., security) presence.
  2. Food Preparation & Service
      • Masks and PPE equipment Enhanced hygiene training:
        • Regular and thorough hand washing.
        • The importance of not touching one’s mouth, nose, and eyes.
        • Proper sneezing and coughing etiquette.

    Health Department standards will be maintained.

  3. Miscellaneous
    • Communicate any State-mandated restrictions on the Event website.
    • Waiver and Assumption of Risk:
      • Participants will be required to sign an acknowledgment and waiver assuming risk related to COVID-19 to participate in 2022.
      • Patrons will be notified through the website, Facebook, and signage that they assume all COVID-19 risk from attending the Festival.
    • Participants are not obligated to partake in the 2022 Kerrville Renaissance Festival/Marketplace or affiliated activities due to COVID-19 concerns.
      • No Participant will be pressured to be at any 2022 Event-related activity.
      • Non-participation in 2022 due to health concerns will not impact future participation.
